Peter and Penny Harvie

Peter came to K.I. with his parents, elder brother and sister when he was 2 months old, his father was one of the original soldier settlers. Peter was educated at Parndana area school, his childhood and teens were spent working with his father and brother on the farm, leisure time was fishing, surfing and exploring the whole Island, with the result that he knows the Island intimately, and can advise our guests on where to go and what to see and how to get to those places not frequented by other tourists. As well as sheep farming and cropping Peter owned and operated a native nursery, he is quite an authority on the Islands' unique flora and fauna. Peter now divides his time between woolclassing, rural fencing, making fantastic desserts, bread and muffins! He can also take our guests on personal guided tours or map out an exciting itinery for you to follow yourselves the choice is yours.

Penny arrived in Australia 28 years ago, she came for a year and is still here! After attending boarding school and doing the mandatory secretarial course in London Penny worked in advertising and film production. She is very lucky to have a Mum who is an exceptional cook as well as a great friend (met at college) who is also a terrific cook and writes wonderful cookery books. Their influence and time spent living in different countries has inspired a great interest in food and cooking. Penny's great, great grandfather was a president of the United States and holds the dubious record of being the president who served for the shortest amount of time. His name was Millard Fillmore hence the name Fillmore's of Kangaroo Island.
